With our recipe for this butter pie, we present you a delicious cake with potatoes! Convince yourself of the taste!

Ingredients for 10 servings:

  • For the puff pastry:
  • 300 g flour, plus more to the work surface
  • 200 g butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • For the filling:
  • 800 g floured potatoes
  • Salt
  • 2 onions
  • 50 g butter, plus a little more to the mold
  • 2 apples
  • 3 sprigs of thyme
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Pepper, black, from the mill
  • 180 g grated cheddar
  • 1 egg

Approximately per serving:

  • 467 calories
  • 28 grams of fat
  • 42 grams of carbohydrates
  • 11 grams of protein

Preparation time:

  • 1 hour (plus 30 minutes cooling and 1 hour cooking time)

And this is how it is done:

  1. Knead all the ingredients for the puff pastry until it is even, add a little cold water if necessary. Wrap in cling film and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
  2. Wash the potatoes, peel and cut into about 0.5 cm thick slices. Pre-cook in salted water for 8 minutes. Then empty and empty well.
  3. Peel the onion, halve it and cut it into fine strips. Cook in a pan with hot butter until soft. Peel, quarter, core and cut the apples into thin slices. Add the onion and fry briefly. Rinse the thyme, shake dry and pick off the leaves.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat, mix in the potatoes, thyme and lemon juice and season with salt and pepper. Allow to cool.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees top and bottom heat. Grease the pie tin (approx. 24 cm in diameter) with butter. Remove 2/3 of the dough and roll out into a large circle on a floured work surface.
  6. Dress the form with it and let the edges hang a little over. Layer the potato and apple mixture in the dish, alternating with 150g of cheddar.
  7. Roll out the rest of the dough and place it on top of the filling. Fold the edges over and press down firmly. Beat the egg and brush on the dough.
  8. Prick a couple of times with the tip of a knife and bake in the oven for about 1 hour until golden brown. Sprinkle over the rest of the cheese for the last 10 minutes. Serve warm or chilled and serve with, for example, red cabbage salad.
