Wash, empty, stalk and stone the cherries. Spread cherries evenly on the bottom of a well-greased, refractory pan or refractory dish (about 11 inches in diameter).
Melt butter in a small saucepan. Beat eggs, sugar, vanilla sugar and a pinch of salt until creamy. Sift over the flour and turn inside out. Gently stir in melted butter and milk. Pour the egg mixture over the cherries and sprinkle over flaked almonds.
Bake in preheated oven (electric stove: 200 degrees, fan: 180 degrees, gas: level three) for 20 to 25 minutes. Allow the clafoutis to cool slightly. Serve with powdered sugar. It tastes good with whipped cream.
