Cold dog, crackling cake or moss cake – these are cake classics from the GDR.
This pudding crumb cake recipe also comes from the GDR era.
Baking the cake is so easy.
For the floor you need:
250 g flour
120 g soft butter
1 packet vanilla sugar
80 g sugar
1 egg
And 1 pinch of salt
For the filling you need:
2 packets of vanilla pudding powder
500 ml milk
5 tablespoons sugar
And 1 egg
These are the ingredients for the crumble:
300 g flour
200 g cold butter
100 g sugar
And 1 pinch of salt
Depending on what you prefer, you can also have morello cherries or apple slices ready for the filling.
First, prepare the dough. Knead all the ingredients together, form into a ball and put in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
Now preheat the oven to 160 degrees.
At the same time you can prepare the filling. First cook the pudding according to the instructions on the package.
Allow the finished pudding to cool and beat in an egg.
The puff pastry should now be cooled.
You can then place this in a baking tray lined with baking paper or spread it over a baking tray.
Now the crumbles are cooked. Knead all the ingredients in a bowl by hand.
Then spread the pudding mixture and crumbs on the puff pastry.
You can also spread the cherries or apple slices on the pudding.
Bake the cake in the oven for about 40 minutes.
Let it cool and serve with icing sugar. Enjoy the meal!
