It’s the best summer dessert: ice cream! Do not have an ice cream machine, but want to decide for yourself what is in it? That’s how you get it.
Paula likes it fruity – preferably with berries and sauce. Ole wants chocolate caramel. And Piet – he only eats his ice cream when there is tuna in it. No problem – the three friends can vary this basic recipe.
The ice is great for a garden party. You may also need these instructions for this:
The most popular ice cream in Germany is vanilla ice cream. For creamy vanilla ice cream, you usually need to take the ice cream out of the freezer quite often and stir it. Otherwise it will be too cramped. Or you may need an ice cream machine to do the job.
But with this recipe, you only stir once. Therefore, you can easily freeze many small, different portions. The secret ingredient for magically soft ice cream: sweetened condensed milk!
You only need three ingredients

500 ml cream
400 ml sweetened condensed milk
The mass of a vanilla bean – or just a little vanilla sugar
We still had the sweet condensed milk in the cellar. We wanted to bake a cake with it. But we never did. The best before date had already passed. But in the end it says Minimumbest before date. And if the condensed milk still looks good, smells good and does not taste sour, you can still use it.
This is how vanilla ice cream is made from the three ingredients
First, whip the cream. By the way, we’ll chop up Ole’s chocolate candy.

Mix the condensed milk with the vanilla in a bowl. Then we fold in the cream with a whisk.

One third of the ice mass goes directly into a freezer. This is Paula’s vanilla ice cream.
Another third goes in an extra bowl. Then Piet touches the fish. (We would rather not show that here, because sight makes Ole sick.)

Five hours in the freezer
Each ice cream goes in its own freezer box and then into the freezer. It must be left in there for five hours.
